Wishlist Wednesday #2: What’s Bred in the Bone by Robertson Davies

This meme was created by Pen to Paper. Each week we will share a book that has been recently added to our wishlist or has been on it for ages. I’m taking this loosely and sharing books that I can’t wait to read.

I just finished the first of The Cornish Trilogy: Rebel Angels, and What’s Bred in the Bone continues the series. It’s almost a prequel, because it details the “biography” of someone who dies right off in the first book, so I’m interested to see how he came by his art collection and how he became who he was. Since he was the glue holding the first novel together (due to a will that needed to be executed), it’ll be nice to learn more about him. The writing style itself is a bit slow for my liking, but it’s always nice to mix up writing styles/genres every now and then.

Title: What’s Bred in the Bone
Author: Robertson Davies
Publisher: Penguin
Paperback: 436 pages
Summary (taken from Goodreads):

Francis Cornish was always good at keeping secrets. From the well-hidden family secret of his childhood to his mysterious encounters with a small -town embalmer, an expert art restorer, a Bavarian countess, and various masters of espionage, the events in Francis’s life were not always what they seemed.
